So if you're a home owner in Natomas Park, you probably received in the mail today, an interesting document. It is a proposal to amend the delegate voting system from its current form to a new (more sensible?) form. As I said, the clubhouse vote was rigged from the beginning. Here is how the current voting works:
Let's say each delegate has 100 home owners (votes) in his neighborhood. If 10 people vote for something and 10 people vote against something, and 80 didn't vote, the delegate gets to spend the 80 votes anyway that delegate sees fit. Essentially, in this example, the outcome for this delegate will be 90 (80 + 10) votes in one direction and 10 votes (actual home owner votes) in the other direction. Pretty cool. To even get a break even, unbiased vote, 50% of the homeowners would have to vote in one direction. Heck, we don't even get a 50% turnout in a national election. So, as you can see, if the delegates all agree that "those people" should be excluded from the club house, it was a done deal. With a 25% (or less) turnout for the vote, the delegates held 75% of the votes, before it even went to ballot. That's why these board defenders here won't give up any numbers. There was never any chance for a democratic process. But then the board knew that, planned on it, and counted on it.
So back to today's proposal in the mail. The delegates would now have to cast their votes (non-voting owners) in the same proportion as the voting home owners. That is, if the delegate represented 100 home owners, and the owners voted 10 for and 10 against, with 80 non-votes, the delegate would have to cast his vote 50 for and 50 against. Gee, one wonders why they are changing that now. Covering tracks? Trying to make sure the same ploy can't be used to undo their dirty deeds?
Come on NEWS10. Get on this. Start digging and publish the truth.

What is going on in North Natomas and where are the police???
Joe Sacramento has posted it best so I will not try to outdo his writing. North Natomas is currently plagued by a rash of home invasion and armed robberies. Please be careful, look out for your neighbors and be suspicious of anyone who looks out of place. I have personally seen two suspicious older teens behaving oddly this week (I know odd, I taught high school) and I did nothing because I didn't want to appear intolerant or perhaps racist. I'm kicking myself now for not making a simple phone call.
If you're in Natomas Park, call Paladin Security immediately if you see anything out of the ordinary. Do not hesitate, do not wait and do not intervene yourself. They have a much, much faster response time than the police in Natomas. Pathetic, disgusting and yet totally true.
Email Heather Fargo, anyone and everyone at the city and try the Sac Bee while you're at it. Then go outside and sit on your porch tonight. Knock on your neighbors' doors and get to know them. Share a cup of iced tea and chat about how smoky the air is. You need to know who stays home during the day, who is available in an emergency and who is watching your stuff when you're gone!
When you're done freaking out that your own garage is not safe and would like to stick your head back in the clouds, check out Rick Kushman's new column "The Good Life" all about life in Sacramento. While I appreciate his bubbly enthusiasm, I'm busy checking my backyard for armed robbers.

Upcoming Natomas Park HOA election (apologies to readers outside Natomas Park!)
A major hoodwink is about to happen in Natomas Park and I feel it necessary to share this information. My apologies to readers outside Natomas Park. However, you should still be concerned about the property rights violations and discrimination about to take place in Natomas Park- it could be your HOA next.
You should expect an HOA ballot to be arriving in the mail towards the end of the month. There are significant changes being made to the CC&Rs as well as some changes that should have been made that are being left off purposefully by the Board of Directors. It is important that no matter how you vote, you return the ballot so that this decision can be made by homeowners NOT the delegates.
Now that you understand the issues, what can you do?
Encourage your neighbors to understand the issues and ask questions
Meet your neighbors and talk to them, get to know the renters and homeowners in your area.
Report renters and homeowners that do not follow the CC&Rs using the existing legal methods
Most importantly, VOTE NO and demand the Board give you a fair ballot that allows you to pick and choose issues, like a state or city election.

- The Board of Directors has packaged this vote as one yes or no vote, without breaking down the individual items specifically. They are holding your vote hostage.
- The Board of Directors has elected to change some problems with Delegate voting, but only those in their own best interests.
- Delegates vote by secret ballot so you have no right to know how your specific Delegate voted. The Board has chosen not to address this problem.
- The Board of Directors is encouraging discrimination based on income within the community.
- The Board of Directors is encouraging you to give up your property rights.
- Property owners who rent their homes in Natomas Park are already organizing for a class-action lawsuit if this measure passes.
